Uilleann piper Cillian Vallely and flute player Kevin Crawford are two of the most well-known musicians on the Celtic music circuit, and both are long time members of Ireland's cutting-edge traditional band Lúnasa - Kevin joined the band in 1997, Cillian in 1999.  Patrick Doocey regularly performs with Lúnasa.  

Cillian and Kevin, after releasing eight Lúnasa albums and working on numerous solo projects, decided to combine their individual talents and create something different. The result is On Common Ground, their critically acclaimed album of “flat-pitched” flute and pipes duets, and winner of  "Album of the Year" (Irish American News, 2010).  Critics describe it as "Tasty tunes and terrific playing," (Irish Echo), and "[a]n album that features two guys at the top of their game offering up a stunner, slowly aged to perfection after years together. We love it.” (Irish American News).

About CillianStarting at age 7, Cillian Vallely learned the whistle and pipes from his parents, Brian and Eithne, founders of the renowned Pipers Club in Armagh. Growing up in a family steeped in traditional music for generations, his childhood of travelling and playing with his family led to a career as a full-time musician.  He has recorded on more than 40 albums and toured worldwide, including with Bruce Springsteen, Natalie Merchant, Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Tim O’Brien, and Riverdance.  

About KevinBorn in Birmingham, England, Kevin Crawford’s early life was one long journey into Irish music and County Clare, where he eventually moved while in his 20’s.  He quickly became one of the most sought-after traditional musicians in Ireland and played in various groups including Moving Cloud, Grianan and Raise the Rafters, Joe Derrane, Sean Tyrrell, and The Sanctuary Sessions.  An exceptional flute, whistle, and bodhran player, Kevin was awarded Musician of the Year (Irish Echo, 2000).  One of Kevin’s latest side-projects is the formation of a new trio, The Teetotallers, with John Doyle and fiddler Martin Hayes.

About PatrickAn All-Ireland winning multi-instrumentalist, Patrick Doocey from County Mayo is one of the most in demand accompanists in the Irish music scene. Predominantly self-taught on the guitar, his exciting style on both nylon and steel string guitar combines influences from many genres. His musical journey has seen him perform with artists such as Sharon Shannon, Liz Carroll, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Teada, Buille, Cathal Hayden, Karan Casey, and Sean Keane. He regularly performs with Lúnasa, and Ragús – The Show, Ireland's internationally touring show of traditional music, song and dance.
